Biz & Butcha
Biography: Trials & Tribulations
Born in Detroit, MI, best friends Mario
Henderson (Big Biznez) and Michael Harrison (Mista Butcha) both
discovered hip-hop at an early age. In 1995, Mario and Michael got
together with Mario's older brother and three other friends to form a
rap group called the Fab Dawgz. At that time, the group did not have a
producer, so they rapped to rap instruments. The Fab Dawgz eventually
went on to do an underground mixtape to see who was serious and who was
not serious about making rap their career. One by one, members quit for
various reasons. The album served its purpose and Mario and Michael
were the only two survivors.
In 1998, Mario and Michael joined
another group, G-World, but the group separated due to creative
difference, leaving Mario and Michael on their own again. This break-up
lead the duo to finally do a demo without any outside help. The demo
eventually led to them being signed by H.E.A.T. Records LLC under the
moniker Biz & Butcha. The two immediately put their heads
together and came up with ideas for songs for the H.E.A.T. Project, a
compilation album of the first two acts signed to H.E.A.T. Records LLC
labels. The group went into the studio and worked like never before.
Today, Biz & Butcha are
constantly at work thinking of new ideas to take the rap industry by
storm. The group primarily focuses on the life experiences and events
that everyone can relate to. The group intends to set new standards in
hip-hop and change the game forever.
Phat
Giggalo, whose birth name is Joseph Mckinney, was born in Detroit,
Michigan. He states that his music is a part of his life and he has to
feel what he raps about. Phat Giggalo use to call his music
"Thug-a-licious," because he says it's hard enough for the "Thugs" to
appreciate, but also very appealing to the women. He states that while
some of his songs are true stories, based on his personal life
experiences, he primarily enjoys making music for entertainment
purposes that "just make the people want to dance or just bob their
heads!" Phat Giggalo writes his own lyrics. The people that influenced
him the most to rap are his best friend Solomon and Solomon's brother
Walt. He says Walt was the person that taught him how to put his rhyme
flows into sentences. Phat Giggalo says that Jesus Christ is a major
part of his life, and has a major influence over his life. He states
that Jesus is the reason why he continues to push toward his goals and
dreams. Phat Giggalo states that he truly believes that "through
Christ, all things are possible!".
Phat Giggalo describes his goals and
dreams as "simple." He states that he only wants to be given a fair
shot at success, and to be provided with the same opportunities that
other rappers have had. He just wants to be given an opportunity to
allow the world to hear his music in order to see if the world likes
the music that he makes. He says that it's cool when your family,
friends, and peeps (people) in the hood hear your music and like it,
but he wants the world to hear what he has to say, and wants to know
how they feel about it. He compares his life to a puzzle at times, and
says that he's trying to put all of the pieces together. He knows that
God has a plan for him and tries to live the life of a Christian.
However, Phat Giggalo admits that it's hard trying to live sin free, in
what he describes as a sinful world. Giggalo states that he rededicated
his life to Christ in September of 2001. He states that he attends
church in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. His hobbies include going
to the movies, writing, learning to produce beats, and just spending
time with his "Shining Star." He credits the "Shining Star" in his life
with bringing him back in the house of the Lord. He states that he is
very thankful for that, because if he had not found his way back home,
he would still be lost in this world, and searching for the unknown.
H.E.A.T. Records, which stands for
"Highly Enthusiastic Aggressive Tempo," actually describes the labels
outlook on the music industry as well as the pace in which the label is
moving. The label is planning to release their first album entitled
"The H.E.A.T. Project," on August 3, 2004. This album is a
collaboration of works created by the first two groups signed to the
label, Biz-N-Butcha, and Phat Giggalo. The album features a mixture of
musical flavors that will appeal to multiple demographics. The
different styles of the groups will satisfy all facets of Hip
Hop/R&B listeners. The album includes guest appearances by
Krayzie Bone (from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony), MC Breed (Breed), Cash Kola,
Jay Black, and more.
